Nervecell have parted ways with U.K based drummer Gavin Ward. Gavin, who has been with the band for a good year and a half and toured with Nervecell was asked to leave the band by the remaining band members earlier this week. Due to a number of personal issues and a sequence of ongoing events with Gavin, the band was left with no other option but to call the quits with him in order to move on. The band would like to thank Gavin for his work with Nervecell and wish him all the best in the future. Nervecell will soon be entering the studio to start recording the upcoming album 'Preaching Venom' for a late 2007 / early 2008 release. The drums on the album will not be handled by Gavin. More details to be announced soon so stay tuned. |

Nervecell are proud to announce that they will be performing at Dubai Desert Rock Festival 2008, the Middle East’s leading 2-day rock/metal festival, taking place on the 7th and 8th of March 2008 in Dubai – United Arab Emirates. This will be Nervecell’s second appearance at the annual Dubai Desert Rock Festival, as the band have previously performed along side SEPULTURA, MACHINE HEAD, WITHIN TEMPTATION and others in 2005. Next year will mark the festival’s 5th anniversary and Nervecell are honored and proud to be a part of it all. Over the past 4 years Dubai Desert Rock Festival embarked great success bringing bands such as IRON MAIDEN, MEGADETH, IN FLAMES, STONE SOUR, MASTODON, ROBERT PLANT, TESTAMENT, MACHINE HEAD, WITHIN TEMPTATION, SEPULTURA and many others. Nervecell are currently in Europe where they will hit the stage this Friday, July 20th at Metalcamp Festival 2007 (Slovenia). The band is set to return back to Dubai and soon enter the studio to start recording their upcoming full length ‘Preaching Venom’. |

The infamous world leading extreme music magazine Terrorizer (UK) have featured Nervecell as part of ‘Middle East Scene Report: Part 2’ last month (June issue). Here is what they had to say: “Nervecell are without a doubt one of the biggest names in the Middle Eastern metal movement. Based in Dubai, they have played Desert Rock with Machine Head and Sepultura, headlined festivals in Egypt and can honestly claim an international following, touring Australia at the time of writing. Beginning in 2000 as a hardcore band, they soon moved into heavier territories, blending death metal with thrash influences. Tracks such as ‘Human Chaos’ offer precise, well-played but not overly technical pummeling, with USDM (US Death Metal) style riffing evolving into more mid-paced passages and accomplished leads, all topped off with a decent production, currently something of a rarity with Middle Eastern acts. “We are probably the only metal band in the region that have lasted this long and we have a fan following here as well as internationally.” Explains Ribeiro. “There are no real venues out here for metal bands to perform on a regular basis and hardly any organizers who believe in paying bands to play, so it’s rough being a metal band. But I think we in particular have accomplished a lot being a self-funded Dubai-based band.” Few would argue that last point, and readers are recommended to check out their ‘Human Chaos’ EP while they await the arrival of forthcoming album, ‘Preaching Venom’. In other news, Nervecell are getting ready for their appearance at Metalcamp Festival 2007 (Tolmin, Slovenia). Nervecell will be hitting the stage on the 20th of July 2007, at 11:45 pm. Slovenia here we come!! |

Nervecell are currently hard at work putting together the final touches to their upcoming album entitled ‘Preaching Venom’. The expected release date will be pushed back from the previously expected date (summer 2007), as the band have recently performed shows in Egypt (Egypt Metal Fest 2007) and Australia (Road Rage tour & Metalstock Festival 2007). In addition they will make their first ever European appearance this summer at Metalcamp Festival 2007 in Slovenia. The sequence of festival appearances has stopped the band with the writing process. It was great to hit the road but unfortunately it has also postponed the recording schedule, but as said before, it’s worth the wait! Some of the confirmed song titles on the album are: ‘Beyond our sins’, ‘Vicious circle of bloodshed’, ‘Demean’ & ‘Flesh and memories’. The complete track list will be revealed soon. The album artwork will be designed by Dennis Sibeijn (Aborted, All Shall Perish, Job For A Cowboy) and is in the process of being completed. Nervecell are very eager for the upcoming album and according to the band the new material is a unique blend of thrash metal and death metal with sheer brutality and groove! “We’ve been writing the new material for almost 3 years now. The new songs are simply ‘Old School’ Death Metal meets the modern Death / Thrash metal sound, with killer melodic parts here and there. We’re just polishing up the final tracks and getting ready to enter the studio.” – Rami (Lead guitars) To preview what’s going to be on the upcoming album, here’s a live video of the song 'Demean' performed at Metalstock Festival 2007 in Australia. Check it out by clicking HERE Leave your feedback on Nervecell’s official forum HERE More updates will be posted shortly. Stay tuned! |

Thanks to everyone who came to support Nervecell and the metal scene in Egypt. The band would like to especially thank the organizers Azzam and Ekramy for all their efforts in making the festival such a success and for their hospitality towards the band. We also want to thank the entire Egypt Metal team for giving Nervecell the opportunity to play to our Egyptian fans and for showing us a good time in Cairo. There is nothing better than making new friends and traveling to exotic locations to play for crowds who appreciate what we do. It was a wonderful experience and the band will definitely be back to perform in Cairo in the near future. Stay Tuned. Until then – AUSTRALIA HERE WE COME!!! |

There will be new merchandise available exclusively for the Australian tour and for the Metalstock Festival 2007. Since the band have also recently been confirmed headliners for the Egypt Metal Fest scheduled to take place on March 2nd in Cairo, it is very likely that there will be delays in the recording process for the new album ‘Preaching Venom’. As unfortunate as this may be, the band are still very keen to go on the road and perform the newer material. We guarantee you this album is well worth the wait. |
