Started drumming at the age of 14 in a band
Caution, 2 years later the band writing their own
material, signed to Copros' Casket Records, recorded and released a
full length album To Better This, produced by Dave Chang. The band
toured the U.K playing all the best toilets and supporting amongst others
Napalm Death, Groop Dogdrill, Brutal Deluxe,
Stampin Ground and Landmine Spring, in addition, headlining
their own shows.
Gav by this time aged 17 was studying at
London's 'Drum tech' after one year moved on to 'The Academy of
Contemporary Music', Guildford sharing gigs with Chris and Nikki from
the power metal band Shadow Keep playing on the demo that
secured the bands singer.
Following graduation 2001, he moved to Portsmouth's
'Academy of Popular Music' for a 2 year course, achieving a distinction.
Gav was recording his own material and playing with a
London based Death Metal outfit Exit Wound whose live
performances and E.P. was acclaimed in the London' venues such as the
Barfly, Verge and Underworld. Metal Hammer and
Terrorizer magazine highly rated the band, unfortunately, the lead
singer quit.
Exit Wound's lead guitarist Sam Chin formed a
hardcore band Last Hours of Torment and asked Gav to hook
up, LHOT toured Poland, Holland , Belgium and Germany
playing several summer festivals on the way.
At this point in Mid - 2003 the U.K / Italian Power
Metallers Power Quest saw Gav playing in Germany and
asked if he would help them and drum on their live shows, Power Quest performed
with critical acclaim at the 2003 Bloodstock Festival
supporting Blaze and Saxon, latterly they toured with Threshold.
Gav left the band in 2004 to concentrate on further
studies, since that time has been involved with a London based
experimental Thrash / Death metal band.
Now the rest as they say is history...Gav has joined
Nervecell.
Gav possesses a large portfolio of recorded work, and
to date has performed in over 150 live shows and festivals. he is a hard
hitting, extremely speedy double kick player and fast becoming one the
best young metal drummers around, Gav is looking forward to his Dubai
experience with Nervecell
