Human Chaos EP (Re-release) [May 2007] This album is one killer release, and as brutal as death metal can get … Nervecell have put a lot of work into it and I am sure that everyone who loves death metal as much as I do will agree when I say that this album can easily keep up with any other international death metal release out there whether it comes to the music, the mixing or the recording quality. Everything here seems to be nothing short of perfect.
The whole sound of the album is superb, and has a wide range of riffs and solos ranging from brutal to melodic to oriental; catchy speed changes make everything come into context and make the songs sound excellent! Also what needs to be mentioned is that the guys have not been afraid to stray off sometimes and insert some extremely slow parts into some of the songs.
What impressed me the most would maybe be the song entries, which always sound great, and never seem out of the general context of the song; a good example of this would be the song “Signs of the End”, which also has a great solo in it by the way.
This is not just a brutal death metal release, this is a great mix of brutality and melody, and a great example of this would be my stand-out track “Vastlands of Abominations”. This song has got it all, a nice entry, low-pitched growling, and long easy-to-listen-to thrash-like riff, another oriental-like sounding riff around the 3:30 minute mark, and to round it all up an oriental solo which fits greatly into it.
The album is rounded off with a thrash-death metal song a la Six Feet Under, even the vocalist on this one sounds just like Chris Barnes, and this made me smile, because it means that the guys are not afraid to show their influences!
One thing that bugged me a little is that I am sure they could have had some more material to make this into a full-length release, not just a 5 track EP!
Again: a great album from a great band, my hails go out to the UAE and looking forward to hearing good news in the near future! And an insider tip to everyone, if you like death metal, get this one, you will not regret it!.
